Lagos State Recieves Approval for the Badagry Deep Sea Port

Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the approval of the #BadagryDeepSeaPort Project which was done by the Federal Executive Council on the 3rd August 2022, at the Lagos Economic Summit, #Ehingbeti2022 yesterday at Eko Hotel & Suites.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media shared the information on his LinkedIn profile, he said;

“The USD 2.5 billion Port project with 2,470m quay length container terminal, 560m quay length break bulk terminal, 265m quay length wheat/grain terminal, 1,370m quay length RoRo terminal, and 360m quay length OSB terminal is all to be designed with minimum 18m depth,” he said.

“The #BadagryDeepSeaPort Project is to be implemented under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) concession structure, whereby the port will be operated by the private sector for 45 years after which it will revert to the government.”

“The investment for the development of the #BadagryDeepSeaPort project will be borne by the private sector, the project is in line with the government’s goal of making Nigeria the maritime hub for the West and Central African sub-region.”

“The #BadagryDeepSeaPort will provide an additional 250,000 jobs through the period increase government revenue, reduce congestion within Lagos’ ports of Apapa and Tin Can Island, and Improve truck turnaround time and terminal productivity.”
